Through the years, beauty and hair products have evolved greatly. Today, styling your hair can never be easier. With a great number of hair products introduced in the market, people who are always on-the-go can have an instant hair fix in just a matter of minutes. That being said, hair mousse products have become a great tool for instant hair fixes. The history of mousse for hair started in the early part of the 1970s. The term “mousse” means “foam” in French. Correspondingly, the French company L’Oreal introduced the first loreal hair mousse available in retail stores, during the early 1980s. By 1984 retail sales for mousse products had skyrocketed in the USA alone earning roughly $100-$150 million!

The Essence Of Mousse

It can never be denied that the number of hair mousse products has increased throughout the years but its essence has remained the same. Water and alcohol are typically the primary ingredients of mousses. They function as solvents to dissolve various active ingredients used when manufacturing the product’s formula.

The use of styling mousse has been around for years and has helped lots of people to achieve various hair styles with ease. Since it is made from various ingredients, it is advisable to choose the right type of mousse depending on your styling needs and hair type.

A lot of people love using them because they can play around with different hair styles with just one affordable product. No doubt styling mousse has become a staple in salons and even for personal use.

Many Results From Mousse

Like other hair care products, you must use styling mousse properly in order to get the best results. Here are some tips to help you:

  • The amount of moisture in the hair influences the results. Usually the best time to use mousse is when your hair is slightly wet (but not soaking wet). As the hair begins to dry, the product’s coating starts to thicken, thus adding fullness to your hair.  If you want to get a wet or crisp look, air-drying your hair will help to accomplish that. And to add extra fullness and control, blow-drying your hair would be ideal.
  • Use organic hair mousse to prevent damaged hair. The use of organic products has been increasingly popular these days. In fact, more hair product manufacturers are now going organic. Organic hair care products are highly recommended rather than those with man made ingredients. This is generally because chemically-produced hair products can inflict damage to your hair.
  • Vary the strength of the mousse for various hair thicknesses. Use a moderate amount of light-to-medium hair mousse for fine hair, and add it to the hair’s roots. For thicker hair, heavier mousse is highly recommended.
  • Do a need-analysis before shopping for mousse. For example, do you want to add volume to your hair or make it look sleeker? By doing a needs-analysis, you can determine which type of mousse is ideal for you, and thus save yourself time and money.
  • Experiment, experiment, experiment. Try different brands as well as types of hair styling mousse until you find one that best suits you. There is no particular hair product that will be ideal for everyone therefore checking out various brands and mousse types increases your product options.

Although hair mousse has only been available on the retail market for less than three decades, it has become a staple in people’s hair care lineup. The product is so useful especially when you need an instant fix for a party or even a special occasion. Invest on a recognized hair mousse brand and give your hair a unique do!
